Abstract

This paper aims to explain the reception of literatures in Portuguese language in the Serbian cultural space. Firstly, I will study the relations between Portugal and Serbia from historical and diplomatic perspectives, and afterwards I will focus on the teaching of the Portuguese language and culture in the former Yugoslavia, highlighting the translation activity in the process of approaching the Lusophone and Slavic worlds, namely Serbian world. One of the topics to be analyzed are the stereotypes about Portugal in Serbia, before and after contact with literature, concluding that the path of cultural cooperation in the Iberian and Slavic languages — is open, but always with new perspectives to explore.

É verdade que Portugal, Brasil, Angola ou Moçambique foram os países lusófonos mais representados na feira, provavelmente por serem os mais conhecidos entre os países de língua portuguesa, ou ainda porque as instituições culturais destes países podiam ter tido mais recursos financeiros para apoiar as traduções ou, como última razão, poder-se-ia considerar a existência das Embaixadas de Portugal, Brasil e Angola no território da República da Sérvia, que mostraram a boa vontade de presenciar, apoiar e promover as atividades da feira do livro, promovendo também as suas respetivas culturas na Europa
De carácter panorâmico, teve como objetivo apresentar o ponto de situação das relações bilaterais de Portugal e a Sérvia, do ensino e da aprendizagem da língua e cultura portuguesas, bem como dos progressos e projetos na área da tradução, para chegar à análise das receções das literaturas de língua portuguesa entre o público sérvio
