Abstract
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), the measurement of the resistance to an electrical current in a living organism, is a common method of assessing body composition. It has been found to be a reliable method for estimating the percentage of lean body mass, fat mass, and water in people infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome without opportunistic infection (1,2).
