Abstract

This article updates Electr. & Comm. Eng. J., vol.2, p.4 (1991); it describes the architecture, facilities and usage of the London Interactive Video Education Network (LIVE-NET), which connects a number of sites in the University. The article discusses how the video facilities are being supplemented by interactive digital services, how packet video is being used to link the network to others in the USA, and how the system could be extended to embrace a larger catchment area.
