Abstract

Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) plays a major role in the process control industry. The proposed method aims to perform analysis on temperature process in CSTR using feedback, feed-forward, and cascade configurations. The three-mode controller namely PID controllers are used. Feedback control is used to improve the changes in inlet temperature very efficiently. But it will have less value in giving back of changes in cooling jacket temperature. The feedback control results are enhanced by taking additional measured variables of jacket temperature along with reactor temperature. Cascade control scheme is used to reduce the disturbances and improve the speed of response. For each type of control system, the controllers are tuned and its optimum parameters were calculated. With the help of parameters of the controlled variable, a better control system can be performed. Time taken for heat transformation in the process tank can be calculated.
