Abstract

Real time simulations that use first principle energy and material balances have been developed for most of the unit operations in the chemical industry. These process simulations are designed to reside in standard controllers available in a distributed control system. Thus, spare controllers can be used that interface directly with the configured displays and control systems. This scheme significantly reduces the cost of implementation and greatly improves the capability for training and engineering.
