Abstract

Located in Melbourne, the State Library Victoria (SLV) is Victoria’s main public research library. In the following interview, Rebecca Henson discusses SLV’s special services for children and youth, in addition to its partnership with other external education providers to deliver early year’s literacy training to public library professionals. SLV is one of Victoria’s pre-eminent cultural institutions and a leading library of the world. Located in the heart of Melbourne, Victoria, the State Library is a cultural icon dedicated to history, and it is one of the city’s premier heritage destinations. SLV works in partnership with Public Libraries Victoria, the peak body for public libraries in Victoria, to develop public library strategies and research and deliver professional development and projects to public library professionals. Public libraries have moved many of their programmes online, some libraries set up book collection and delivery, and they have broadened their community engagement by becoming involved in other services such as meal preparation and delivery.
