Abstract

This paper presents design and implements the two degree of freedom (T-DOF) technique to design using Matlab/simulink for a reactive power and voltage control system of the synchronous generator. The proposed controller will be a Proportional Integral Derivative(PID) controller. The T-DOF PID controller design by root locus technique is also introduced to the system for regulates and tracking terminal voltage response. The overall control system is implemented on dSPACE DSP DS1104 controller board. This scheme leads to be able to adjust the output voltage of the generator by control the input voltage of exciter. The experimental results in testing the 300 watt generator system from no load condition to rated condition show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. It is found that the output phase voltage can be controlled to be constant in the operating range of 80-110 volt of a resistive, inductive and capacitive load.
