Abstract

The metathesis reaction of TeBr 4 and AgSb(OTeF 5) 6 in SO 2 led to [TeBr 3][Sb(OTeF 5) 6] and AgBr, and that of 2AgSb(OTeF 5) 6 with 7Te:TeBr 4 led to [Te 4][Sb(OTeF 5) 6] 2. The crystal structure of [Cl 3TeFTeCl 3][Sb(OTeF 5) 6] is reported, prepared from Te, TeBr 4 and AgSb(OTeF 5) 6 in SO 2ClF. [Cl 3TeFTeCl 3][Sb(OTeF 5) 6] crystallizes in space group P-1 with a=10.144(6) Å, b=10.462(2) Å, c=9.023(4) Å, α=93.38(2)°, β=104.42(4)°, γ=83.06(3)°, V=920.3(5) Å 3 and Z=2. The structure consists of isolated fluoride bridged [Cl 3TeF TeCl 3] + cations and Sb(OTeF 5) − 6 anions with some cation-anion interactions. The observed structure and FT-Raman spectrum of [Cl 3TeFTeCl 3] + are in agreement with that predicted by theoretical calculations (B3PW91/3-21G∗).
