Abstract

Massive cytoid body formation of interrupted centrifugal fibers in the nerve fiber layer was observed histologically with routine methods four days after perforating trauma at the proximal aspect of a whole-thickness rupture of peripheral retina. This observation was evidence for the presence and gave an impression of the great number of centrifugal elements in the peripheral nerve fiber layer of the human retina.
