Abstract

The Dysprosium doped Zinc aluminate (ZnAl2O4) nanoparticles were prepared by green biogenic technique using Resinifera E-tirucalli latex. Nitrates of all precursors were used as starting materials. Naturally available Resinifera latex of Euphorbia family was used as a combustion agent. The samples prepared were calcined at 900 °C for three hours. The final calcined powders were analysed for X-ray diffraction to study the structural analysis and an average crystallite size was calculated to be around 18 nm using Scherrer’s and Williamson hall equation. Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy confirms the purity of the sample. The optical properties were determined by UV–Visible spectra. The photocatalytic activity of the ZnAl2O4:Dy3+ nanoparticles for the methylene blue dye was studied beneath solar source and UV light treatment by varying pH of the solution.
