Abstract

Relation to knowledge and logic of professionalization in pre-service training in Physical Education at the Midi-Pyrénées teacher training institute (IUFM) : two quantitative and clinical studies In the context of pre-service training in physical education (PE) we have studied the way students acquire knowledge, how they become “ professionals” (Altet, 1994 ; Lang, 1999). The notion of relation to knowledge is our conceptual tool to define this “ set of relations” (Charlot, 1997). The specificity of the subject has led us to study how the students “ relate to their bodies” as part of their relation to knowledge. We present two studies with different methods : a quantitative study and a clinical study.
