Abstract
Temperature dependent Raman spectra of quasi-one-dimensional blue bronze Rb 0.3MoO 3 are reported. Similarly to what it was found by Travaglini et al. ( Solid State Commun. 45, 289, 1983) in K 0.3MoO 3, a low temperature-low frequency strongly temperature dependent band is assigned to the amplitude mode of the charge density wave. In addition, the relevant infrared data are reviewed. A Raman weighted one-dimensional phonon density of states found above mid-gap energies is traced to the symmetric stretching-breathing mode. It suggests a zone center branch softening of at least 147 cm −1.
