Abstract
This essay reflecting on the most recent uprising in Palestine argues for an understanding of refusal as ongoing. It reads the enormity of events taking place in a short period of time over the late spring and early summer of 2021 as historical. Focusing on Jerusalem as an epicenter, the essay uses the concepts of “refusal” and “ongoing” as a lens with which to understand the events as both novel and as part of a longer history that continues uninterruptedly. This reflection was written through a storm of Palestinian refusal of settler colonial violence.
