Abstract
Background: The ALPPS procedure has been recently introduced as a treatment strategy for liver cancer patients. The initial case series of ALPPS reported not only more extensive FLR hypertrophy but also a shorter process (74% FLR increase in 9 days) compared to PVE. However, the mortality and morbidity rates (12% and 64%, respectively) of ALPPS are greater than those of PVE (1.5% and 14%, respectively).
