Abstract

The radiative decay of bound excited charge-transfer electronic states of Ar 2+ 2 is studied via ab initio effective operator QDPT calculations of potential energy and transition dipole moment curves. The assignment of the ‘third continuum“ in the emission spectrum of the Ar plasma to bound-repulsive transitions of Ar 2+ 2 is supported.
