Abstract

The differential cross section for radiative capture of deuterons by protons has been measured by a novel method at deuteron energies near 20 and 30 MeV. The angular distributions are sufficiently detailed to show effects of transitions higher than quadrupole. The total cross sections, which are accurate to \ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}7%, are about 10% below recent theoretical calculations.
