Abstract
Radial profiles of fine particle (36 μm) concentration and velocity in a riser of 140 mm inner diameter are investigated using a dual-beam optical density sensor and a laser Doppler velocimeter. According to the cross-sectional average solids fraction three different kinds of radial solids fraction profiles are present: uniform, dense ring and aggregation. At high superficial gas velocity and low solids concentration, the radial profiles of fine particle velocity obey a 1/7 power law. The radial profiles of solids fraction and velocity become flatter as the particle size decreases from 54 to 36 μm.
