Abstract

Population of n-particles- n-hole states is studied in three, four and five nucleon stripping reactions by heavy ions, leading to the 16O residual nucleus. High-energy excitation levels of 16O are obtained up to 26 MeV. All of these reactions are very selective, especially alpha transfer reactions. Several 2p-2h and 4p-4h states are populated by three and five nucleons transfer reactions. Angular distributions measured at forward angles (≧ 1.5° lab) exhibit a typically diffractional pattern suggesting that a direct interaction mechanism is predominant.
