Abstract

AbstractWe study the local density of states in a half metal sandwiched by the two superconductors. The spin‐flip scattering at the junction interface opens the Josephson channels of the odd‐frequency spin‐triplet s‐wave Cooper pairs. The penetration of the odd‐frequency pairs enhances the quasiparticle density of states near the Fermi energy in a half metal, which is responsible for the unusual nonmonotonic temperature dependence of the Josephson current. On the basis of calculated results, we propose experiments to confirm the odd‐frequency Cooper pairs. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
