Abstract

Within a simple model (a moving impurity) we study the possibility of creating a beam of quasiparticles in superfluid 3He–B with an unequal number of particle-like and hole-like excitations (branch imbalance). We calculate the dependence of the number and type of the emitted quasiparticles on the direction and the energy. We find branch imbalance, predominantly in the forward and backward directions, which is strongly energy dependent.
