Abstract

Here, we report the existence of both 2-fold and 3-fold icosahedral quasicrystal symmetries along with the signature of Moiré Fringes within the single crystal hematite nano octahedron. It is grown from the FeOCl (Iron oxychloride) based nucleation centre, obtained by the thermal decomposition of FeCl3.6H2O in the presence of oleic acid and Urea following a La Mer type crystal growth over time.
