Abstract
Purpose: Fascia play an important role for the complex interplay of muscle function and neuromuscular transmission of information and in the development of myofascial pain. The new ultrasound based technology Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse Virtual Touch Imaging and Quantification (ARFI VTIQ), and myotonometric measurements (MyotonPro) can both assess quantitative tissue characteristics like stiffness of tissues.
