Abstract

In the quantitative determinations of isomers of naphthalenemonosulfonic acid and isomers ofβ-naphtholmonosulfonic acid by infrared absorption spectroscopy, a method of homnogeneous dIspemsionof the sample in chloroform by use of aluminum stearate as a dispersing agent has been applied. The result indicated that the quantitative determination of samples of the standard mixture of 2 isomers of naphthalenemonosulfonic acid can be made within 1% of standard deviation and that of 3 isomers of β-naphtholmonosulfonic acid with about 2% of standard deviation. A few improvements have been made in the preparation of sample, also a comparative investigation has been made with the quantitative determination of solid sample by infrared absorption spectroscopy.
