Abstract

Quality improvement (QI) is necessary to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes. This work has evolved, and there are generally accepted standards for both performance of QI projects and reporting of this work; however, it is unclear if there is a wide-reaching understanding of QI science within the benign gynecologic subspecialties. The reasons for this may be multifactorial: the culture may not robustly support quality and safety, there are multiple competing clinical research and clinical demands, and there is a need for more expertise in this domain.
