Abstract

1. 1. Acyl phosphatase (acyl phosphate phosphohydrolase, EC 3.6.1.7) has been purified from horse liver. The purification procedure consisted of an acetic acid extraction, an isoelectric precipitation of foreign proteins and three subsequent ion-exchange chromatographies. 2. 2. The molecular weight was determined by sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and by Sephadex G-75 gel filtration and the amino acid composition by ion-exchange chromatography. 3. 3. The above properties and the substrate specificity were compared with those found for horse muscle acyl phosphatase.
