Abstract
Demand for electricity in recent years has been steadily increasing at an average of 14% per year. Therefore, the construction of a stable power source meets the demands of production and daily life of the people is extremely important and urgent. However, the increasing in energy use has an adverse impact on the ecological environment. Currently, to ensure energy security, environmental safety, and efficient and sustainable use of water resources, the best and almost unique solution is to build pumped storage power plants. The paper focuses on detailed analysis of advantages, disadvantages as well as the efficiency and prospects of using pumped storage power plant technology in Vietnam’s power system.
