Abstract Public Health Perspective and Physiotherapy: Global to Local Nalin Kumar, PT, MPH; Breakthrough Health Innovation, Ranchi, India ph.nalin@gmail.com, Mob- +91-7857916028 ABSTRACT Physical therapy/ physiotherapy or Kinesio therapy are some of the different nomenclature by which the professionals who practice the profession are known globally1. An often misconception of the profession is related with the relation of the profession as an individual patient focused occupation or related with rehabilitation. The contribution of the profession to community health is an often mislead contribution towards the community based rehabilitation. However, there are larger roles that the physiotherapists globally are performing. This paper highlights and advocates the different role of Physiotherapists in the public health system in different countries and to a large extent focuses on the related issues in India. The paper also explores from the historical perspective to the global perspective to the local perspective.
