Abstract

For a variety of reasons, more and more families are seeking an alternative to home care for their young children. Smaller, more nuclear type families, small modern apartments with modern technical aids, large uninspiring urban housing areas, the need of women for a career outside of the home, the increase in the number of single parent families, the necessity of a second wage packet all of these factors have caused in Denmark, as in other countries, a movement to re-examine the insufficient day care facilities.
