Of one-time psychoanalysts and psychiatrists who have founded new through school dissent we can think of R.D. Laing and his championing of ‘Existential therapy’; of Friz Pearls and his ‘Gestalt psychotherapy’; of Eric Berne and his ‘transactional analysis’; and of Rollo May and his ‘humanist psychotherapy’–to name some of the more well-known. 2. The BAP introduced the Jungian training into their syllabus in 1963. This training was recognised by the International Association of Analytical Psychologists (i.e. the international Jungian association) in 1982 (Abram & Morgan-Jones, 2001 Abram, J. & Morgan-Jones, R. (2001). Psycho/Analytic Psychotherapy Trainings: A Guide. London: Free Association Books [Google Scholar], p. 87). Another BCP training that reintegrated Jung into the curriculum is the London Centre for Psychotherapy, founded in 1973. 3. Also, person–centred therapy was rejected by the ‘Scientific Advisory Board’ as it was deemed to have value only to sub-groups of affective disorders. 4. Dermatology is a branch of medicine that specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of the skin and associated regions.
