Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory disease of the skin affecting about two percent of the population with relatively similar burden among men and women throughout all age groups [1]. The disease encompasses a wide spectrum of clinical severity, from mild cases, with little impact on quality of life, to the most severe cases based on the extent of body surface area affected. A minority of patients with psoriasis show elevated markers of systemic inflammation, mostly modest and predominantly in patients with severe disease[2].
