Abstract

ABSTRACT “Prufrock in the 21st Century” demonstrates how a professor of poetry at a university in the global south teaches T. S. Eliot’s poems, especially “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”. The poem also shows how the professor handles the classroom in which the students react and respond in precarious ways, and the professor attempts to relate the great poem to the present time. The poem situates Prufrock, the seminal character of Eliot’s poem, in the 21st century cultural context of global south.
