Abstract

The complex formation of protonated naphthylamines with 18-crown-6 decreases markedly the proton dissociation rate in the excited singlet state, resulting in an increase of its lifetime. It is also found that the excited neutral complex (RNH 2-crown) * is produced by deprotonation of (RN +H 3-crown) *.
