Abstract

This study deals with the issue of patent protection in accordance with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), which is concerned with registering patents around the world in some or all the countries joining this agreement, which numbered 153 countries, including Jordan, which recently ratified on 9/6/2017. According to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the inventor has a set of advantages that encourage him to apply to protect his invention within a wide range in various parts of the world within the countries that he chooses in a way that guarantees him stronger protection for his invention and use and qualifies him as a result of the supreme goal of protecting of intellectual property represented by encouraging innovation Creativity and provide more creativity and inventions. The applicant initiates the stages of registering the invention, starting from depositing the application within the international stage, through international research and publication, to the international examination, and then moving to the national stage, which we will study all of them in the necessary detail within the provisions of the agreement and Jordanian law. The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of it is that the Patent Cooperation Agreement provides many advantages for the inventor and the country, and for creativity and innovation in general, which were dealt with in this study in addition to the registration stages. In addition to a set of recommendations in the conclusion of the study. In this study, I discuss the advantages of registration in accordance with the Patent Cooperation Agreement and the international and national registration stages, from filing an application to obtaining a patent in the countries selected for protection in accordance with the Patent Cooperation Agreement (PCT).
