Abstract

During recent years, the energy efficient lighting system takes a great importance from economic operation as well as environmental view point. The best way to implement this in academic building is to conduct the energy audit which not only determine energy wastage and losses but also suggests the best possible ways to reduce energy consumption. This paper suggests ways and means to carry out energy audit in an academic building in West Bengal to replace existing lighting system by energy efficient LED lighting system. It has been observed that the proposed lighting system saves the energy consumption up to 64% with a payback period of 3.3 years.
