Abstract

The tRNA methylase activity in vitro of adenovirus-12-induced tumour and normal hamster tissues was studied. Enzyme extracts from adenovirus-12-induced tumour, hamster muscle-connective tissue and hamster liver methylated both Escherichia coli tRNA and yeast tRNA. The source of the enzyme and the pH of the incubation mixture influenced the bases methylated. However, the methylated bases that were isolated were not affected by the presence of NH(4) (+) ions in the incubation mixture.
