Abstract

The basic properties of recycled and coconut shell aggregate concrete are examined with the natural aggregate concrete. The scope of present investigation is the study of recycled aggregate and coconut shell aggregate, at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% partial replacement of coarse aggregate to produce concrete. The purpose of the investigation is to observe the effect on the properties of concrete with different proportions of waste aggregate and to compare the results. Recycled aggregate is a non-biodegradable material. Thus, the use of this type of refutation would end up in a landfill and also reduce the depletion of fresh raw materials. To reduce the destruction problem of environment, coconut shell, a byproduct of agriculture can also be used as aggregate. The main advantage of coconut shell aggregate is cost-saving (up to 40%) due to self-weight reduction.
