Timely discharge of patients is important for patient safety and satisfaction as well as patient flow and health economics. Improving hospital discharges and promotion of a 7-day service are key priorities of NHS England. Discharging medical patients from hospital over the weekend can be challenging due to both intrinsic and extrinsic issues.
