Abstract
The LNS heavy ion facility under construction in Catania consists of an SMP tandem Van de Graaff that will be coupled to a superconducting cyclotron with K = 800. The installation of the tandem was completed in November 1982 and acceptance tests are under way. At the moment a maximum voltage of 13.7 MV has been reached with a proton beam transmission better than 85%. A review of the state of the various parts of the project is given in this paper.
