Abstract

Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is an important component of the surfactant family and expressed in lung as well as many other organs. SP-D is a natural immune protein, which plays an important role in immune defense in lung tissues and in the regulation of inflammatory responses. Moreover, it also participates in immune inflammatory responses in other organs. This paper reviewed the function of SP-D in the regulation of immune inflammatory responses and its regulatory mechanisms in common diseases, and summarized the prospect of SP-D in disease treatment.
