Abstract

The term “cooperating” is so broad that it must be defined for the purposes of this paper. It will include: Those who contribute or have contributed to the actual cost of operation; those who furnish data which are interpreted by the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey; and those who interpret and use data after they have been obtained by the Bureau either directly or through cooperation. The cooperators include educational and scientific institutions, engineering groups, and many others.
