Abstract

A simple addition to the temperature control system of a plant growth-room previously described (Rorison, I964) allows accurate reproduction of naturally occurring diurnal temperature patterns. It is a cam device which is simple to construct and easy to connect into any existing resistance-bridge control circuit. Programme controllers involving shaped cams which have many applications in environmental studies, usually employ a combination of gears and linkages (Voisey, I963). In the unit to be described the cam is in direct contact with a rectilinear potentiometer.*
