Abstract

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the results of a program for the improvement of the quality of life in oncological patients of the Club de la Mama attended at the INMP (2023) Materials and Methods: This research corresponds to a quasi-experimental study, which consists of the application of a program for the improvement of the quality of life in oncological patients attended during 2023, the total population was used, 8 participants, with ages between 41 and 71 years (mean=60. 25), to whom the entire program was applied (36 sessions, 9 months). The Quality of Life (QLQ-30), Anxiety (GAD-7), Depression (PHQ-9) and Stress (PSS-10) scales were applied at 4 moments, before starting the program, after 3 months (control 1), after 6 months (control 2) and finally after the total application of the program, 9 months (control 3). The analysis of frequencies and percentages of the variables, goodness of fit to the normal curve, and Student's t-tests for related samples (p>0.05) within groups with a confidence level of 95% were performed. Results: Significant differences were found between pretest and controls in their different variables, Quality of Life (p<0.05, increased from 35.29 to 66), Anxiety (p<0.05, decreased from 12.86 to 3.71), Depression (p<0.05, decreased from 12 to 2.14), and Stress (p<0.05, decreased from 28 to 15.14). Conclusion: The program implemented in the breast cancer club improved the quality of life of oncology patients at the end of their sessions.
