Abstract
This paper describes a problem with differential protection of traction substations' transformers. An algorithm for differential protection has been developed that allows determining similar phase currents on the high and low voltage sides and indicates the possible type of error for any load character. The proposed algorithm and software can be applied by any errors made during the assembly of the current circuits of differential protection. The developed software can be used as the wizard for protection engineer. The software has been developed in the MATLAB programming environment.
