Abstract

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate consumers profile based on their food safety knowledge and practice. The sample of research consisted of 50 household units in Sleman district. Simple random sampling was chosen in the process of selecting a sufficient number of elements from population. The discriptive analysis was used to investigate consumers profile rooted in their food safety knowledge and practice. This research showed that consumers food safety knowledge and practice was statistically high. It was cleary indicated by high mean score of each dimension used to mensure food safety knowledge and practice variable. The impact of food consumption contaminated of formaline on one’s healty was the highest score of consumers food knowledge and practice with mean score 4,55 of 5 scale maximum score. On the other hand the lowest score of consumers food knowledge and practice was showed on the dimension of hazardous chemical dye on marine products. Moreover this research had explained that food safety knowledge and practice level of household units in Sleman were categorized on excellent degree since 74% of respondens had total score in the interval 56 – 75.
