Abstract: In this essay, Sarah Hernandez reflects on her friendship with Dakota writer and scholar Elizabeth Cook-Lynn. Cook-Lynn, the author of fourteen Native American studies books and numerous articles, has mentored countless Native students over her long career. This personal reflection provides insight into Cook-Lynn's teaching methods and impact.
