Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of rates of potassium in top-dressing on yield and quality of cauliflower cultivar Teresopolis Gigante. The experiment was conducted at Sao Manuel Experimental Farm, from UNESP/FCA, from April to August 2006. Five treatments (0; 50; 100; 150 and 200 kg ha-1 of K2O in top-dressing) were evaluated at randomized blocks design, with five replicates and ten plants per plot. After the harvest, leaf number per plant, diameter and average weight of curd, pH, acidity, level of soluble solids, reducing sugars, ascorbic acid and level of potassium were evaluated. It was observed that potassium rates did not influence all evaluated characteristics, showing that, perhaps, it is not necessary the top-dressing potassium aplication.
