Abstract

Micro-organisms like bacteria, cynobacteria, actinomycetes and fungi are employed to synthesise nanoparticles. The yeast strain possess more benefits over bacteria because they are easy to control in laboratory, synthesise numerous enzymes and rapid growth with the use of simple nutrients. In this study Luria- Bertani (LB) media was used for the culture of Baker’s yeast to prepare titanium dioxide nanoparticles. Titanium dioxide (i.e. Ti02) is also known as Titania. Titanium dioxide has many functions in various industries, it is widely used in the sunscreens to block the UV-rays and many more. Yeast cells were allowed to grow as suspension culture and this culture was treated as source culture. A small portion of this culture (25 ml) was filtered and diluted four times by adding 30% ethanol. TiO2 solution was added to the culture solution and the culture was allowed to incubate. The nanoparticles of titanium were filtered under the laminar flow by using Whatman filter paper.
