Abstract

We report here on the detection of (SF 6) n ·X − (X = SF 5, SF 4, SF 3) ions which form by electron attachment to SF 6 clusters in a molecular beam. The formation of some species, e.g. SF 6·SF − 5 with resonances at 6 and 10 eV, is unexpected because attachment to the bare SF 6 molecule does not yield the analogous monomer fragment ion in this energy range.
