Abstract

Currently there is a need of light weight materials with better performance and efficiency and which can run for long time without damage. Aluminium matrix composites fulfil these requirements due to their good strength, wear, cost effectiveness, melting point, etc. AMCs can be used in engineering applications such as in engines, in aerospace industries, in drum brakes, cylinder liners etc. This paper focuses on the properties posses by hybrid composite of AA2024 with Al2O3/ZrO2/Gr. The HMMC was fabricated using stir casting machine and then characterized for its mechanical properties and its microstructure. The HMMC showed maximum hardness of 158 HV and tensile strength of 157.36 MPa.
