Abstract

The authors argue that close attention to the research process will enhance student learning and campus ethos. Assignments designed to require accountability and scrutiny can relieve both students and faculty of some of their most dreaded and unproductive tasks. The rein forcing role of Information Literacy guidelines in this process-based approach is outlined. In building assignments that focus on the information gathering process, information competencies are addressed and plagiarism is prevented.
